Frank's Purpose
Frank’s Purpose
Once upon a time, Frank, a little monkey, lived in a tree house in the middle of the jungle. One day as Frank watched Dr. Phil, he was inspired by, “Everyone has a purpose in life, but it’s up to you to discover it.” Frank turned off the T.V. and sat thinking for a while. He soon realized he had to find his purpose in life.
So Frank set off through the jungle in hope of finding his purpose. An hour through his journey, he came across an anteater. He approached the anteater and said, “Hello, Mr. Anteater.”
“Hello young fellow, what could I do for you today?”
"What is your purpose in life, Mr. Anteater?”
“My purpose is to eat ants, so they don’t get overpopulated.”
“Please help me find my purpose in life.”
“I don’t think I can, I don’t know much about monkeys. You should visit the Wiseman. He knows everything about everything.
“Where could I find him?”
“He lives a mile south from here,” said the anteater.
“Oh thank you, anteater. I’ll go ask him right now.”
“Good luck!” he said, as Frank walked away.
Walking deeper through the jungle, Frank came across an old wooden cottage. When he knocked on the door, it was answered by an elderly man who had a long gray beard and carried a cane. It was the Wiseman.
“What can I do for you today?”
“My name is Frank. I was sent by the anteater. He said you could help me.”
“Oh yes, of course. What is your question?”
“What is my purpose in life?”
“Your purpose in life, well, what do you think it is?”
“I don’t know, that’s why I’m here. Dr. Phil told me I had to find my purpose in life.”
“How old are you, Frank?”
“Seven.” He said.
“And how old is Dr. Phil?”
“I don’t know?”
“Older than you though, right?”
“Of course,” Frank said.
“Well, it seems you haven’t found your purpose in life yet Frank. And that’s alright because it takes time. Just because someone who HAS found their purpose in life, tells you to do something, doesn’t mean you have to listen to them. You are the keeper of your own destiny and no one else can take it from you.”
“So what does this mean?” asked Frank.
“It means that your purpose in life is anything you want it to be. What do you like to do?”
“I like eating bananas and watching T.V.”
“Well then your purpose in life might be to eat bananas and watch T.V.”
“Oh, my gosh, I get it now! I can make my purpose in life anything I want it to be! Oh thank you! Thank you, Wiseman!”
"You are quite welcome, friend.”
Frank quickly ran home and from that day on, in the tree house, in the middle of the jungle anyone will find Frank sitting on his couch eating bananas watching Dr. Phil, fulfilling his purpose in life.
THE END
