The Once Beautiful Planet

Easter Chicken

     One day a chicken laid an egg.  After a few minutes sitting on the egg the chicken said “I will make a nest in the field, I will put my egg in it, and cover it with warm leaves, so the farmer won’t eat my baby.”

Nightmare

The darkness closes in around me,

The coldness is astounding,

I can’t breathe, and moving is impossible.

The world is so bleak,

I want to run,

I want to hide.

But I can’t hide what’s on the inside.

My own sorrow is in fact me,

waking beauty

as the sun slowly peeks around the corner of my window

i lift my head from the pillow, and turn towards it,

to see that the world is still asleep

i leave my warm nest of blankets

and run downstairs

I throw my coat on,

What is America?
